In 1979 a small group of university fellows started developing management software for Series 1 IBM systems.

This adventure went on, and in 1981 they started producing management software for the open market on Olivetti systems.

The real turning point is in 1985, when they chose to quit the open market and the link with the hardware brands to specialize in some vertical sectors only.

Nowadays, thanks to this choice, Gea Soft has become a leading company in the Italian market of software for the footwear industry, and is about to attain the same position in the creation of software for the distribution of construction materials.
